Historian David Starkey has told BBC's Newsnight ''the whites have become black'' in a discussion on the England riots with author and broadcaster Dreda Say Mitchell and the author of Chavs, Owen Jones.
He also hit out at what he called the ''destructive, nihilistic gangster culture'' which he said ''has become the fashion.'' |
and from here (in the video) proceeds an interesting discussion on language, culture, and race. |

David Starkey - i hope that guy gets locked away for those absurdly racist comments.
There are plenty of 'black' people who made comments on their twitter to the effect that they are annoyed that they are categorised as a gangster because of their race. Wait... there was another bloke who did a bit of categorising... Adolf something or other... |

Ancient Dweller invokes Godwin's Law

Meanwhile,
Storm in a teacup over. Minor disturbances by colonial visitors and their native friends. Britain triumphs over adversity. England cricket team defeats colonials to restore superiority. All is well in the Shires, as it always is.
I'm off to my club for a stiff brandy and cigar...
Oh no, those dastardly cads from the Workers' Party banned that, didn't they? |

Are you generally in favour of people being locked away for expressing an opinion then? Or is it just people expressing opinions that you don't agree with? |

You can use the link below to see a rouge's gallery of impressionable (otherwise) white people who have succumbed to the lures of "black culture," which has seduced and corrupted them.
I blame it all on so-called "rap/hip-hop" music. Clearly these poor whites have fallen under its spell.
Is anyone safe? If these normally law-abiding whites have been brainwashed by the sinister influences of "black culture," where, oh, where will it all end?

That's what people said when Hitler was around. The legal system should reflect what is best for society as a whole. I do not agree with the US system of 'say what you want without consequences' policy. Look at the race problems they have there.
Slowly, if people keep discouraging, through the law if necessary, racism in society it will go away.
As for generalising all opinions as criminal haha, you are winding me up - do you think i live in Russia or something? |

| Russia! The only truly transparent power in the world. No bones made about might being right. No need to pretend to respect human rights, as in the decadent West. Law of the jungle here, in all its red-in-tooth-and-claw honesty. Riots? Send in the tanks. Pillaging is the preserve of the State. |

Sinister.
What is best for society as a whole is very much up for debate, hence people must be able to express their views, whatever those views may be. You don't get to decide what comes out of another man's mouth.
Also, different peoples' opinions as to what actually constitutes racism also differ wildly. Again, you don't get to make that call.
Very sinister that you believe you do.

Dear eurobound,
I agree - I try to never actually argue against absurd opinions; it's a waste of time and energy.
I prefer to ridicule them; it's much more fun

Thanks John,
I'll remember that the next time you claim "The Rhythm of the Saints" to be the best Paul Simon album |

Dear eurobound,
Only for me - and the context probably has something to do with it. I was in Indonesia then, having such a wonderfully great time that probably even a "Kiss" album would have sounded like the music of the spheres.
Association can mean so much where music is concerned. Some tunes can immediately take me back to the 60s. Time travel on the cheap.

John |

Dear Johnslat
A firmer hand is needed usually. Anti-social types are best dealt with by detention in a re-education facility, followed by a short spell in the army and a shorter hair-cut. Those who come out of this process are notably less inclined to re-offend against society again.
