hi everyone
I'm planning to come to Madrid this September and apply for teaching work by going in person from place to place, dropping CVs off. I have a few questions that I hope someone who is there, or has experience of living there, can help me with...

(I should just mention that I have no teaching experience but I have my Trinty Cert from a four week intensive...)

1) Which week, or date, would be the best time to come in September (or indeed early October perhaps?) in relation to when the majority of schools recruit new teachers?

2) how good are my chances of getting a full time position/contract? If not, what are the minimum amount of hours I should sign a contract for? (in terms of doing enough work to earn enough to pay the rent, living costs etc.)

3) Finally can anyone recommend a Bank with which to open a basic current account, and also which companies do the best deals for a cheap mobile phones (pay as you go for example)

many thanks in advance, I appreciate it Smile

I advise checking out this website: http://www.expatriatecafe.com. Though it's for expatriates living all over Spain, most of the posters live in Madrid. When I moved to Spain in 2007, the information and encouragement I got from them helped me get settled, find work, and make several good friends in the bargain. Good luck and enjoy Madrid!

Thats a good link.
Is late September, ie 26th onwards too late to arrive in Madrid?
I am in the UK and need to get things tied up here.
I was going to contact language school prior to going there.
So all I need to know is late September a bit too late to find work?
Thanks!
