Actually, I remember being propositioned by two girls in a video store a few months back. |
Crikey....TWO girls? I wonder if they gave a discount for two at a time...perhaps you could pay 50,000 yen for both?
In any case, God bless you!
I'm moving to Gunma too!

So...... Avahanian.... we meet again
I won't tell Glenski if you don't.
You last mentioned you would be in Japan by May. Obviously, you were just waiting until I'd left
Is that all coming together now, and will it be with the big four? |

Anyone who thinks that this is a uniquely Japanese, Asian etc thing should watch 'Thirteen' a movie about a 13 yr old in the States written by a 13 yr old. |

The best you can do is educate your children and give them the confidence to make intelligent decisions.
People really should leave their cultural and religious biases out of the equation here. It's Japan, not England or America or New Zealand or whatever. This is the country that stuffs porn advertisements in your mailbox everyday. This is the country where salarymen relieve themselves on the side of the street in broad daylight. Lots of stuff happens here that you might not agree with. But that's just the reality of what goes on in this country. And such "vile" practices are not unique to Japan at all. Think about countries where polygamy is legal. Or where women can't leave the house. Hell, you could legally marry someone in some parts of the US when you're 14, I think.

What worries me is that so many people DON`T seem to be educated about this kind of thing.
From the stories posted here, the girl said she didn`t talk to anyone about Ek, she didn`t talk to anyone about sex. Not her parents not her teachers not her friends, no-one. This means that the decisions aren`t educted decisions.
The balance of power is wrong in these, you have older (predatory) men (typically), men hold most of the power in Japan, and are aware of sexual matters. IN EK girls have only become educated through EK.
If there were more awraeness of the risks involved, physical, psychological, health-related then I don`t think the problem would be as big.

This is the country where *housewifes and little old ladies* stuff porn advertisements in your mailbox everyday. LITTLE OLD LADIES!
As people have said things happen everywhere in the world that people don`t agree with, but I think education is the key.
I don`t want people to stop doing EK just because I personally don`t think it`s a good idea. BUT I want them to have had the chance to make an educated decision about whether or not to do it.
(there was a recent story about a mother who offered both of her daughters (12 and 13) to a family friend for 100,000yen. Where was the choice/education for the children.
As for sex not being emotional but simply physical in Japan, I`m personally not convinced about this. I don`t doubt that it`s possible, but in my experience it seems to be not the case)
Power and status are huge attractions to humans. Think back to when you were in high-school. Who did you want to have sex with? In your dreams, movie stars, in reality the hot girl/guy in your English class. The sports team? the cheerleaders? How about the unpopular/poor/fat kid? Nope? That`s how it was at my school anyway. In Japan though, people and girls in particular, are taught (through media/images and society) that money is important.
Sex isn`t valuable, Louis Vuitton is.
Want to earn a lot of money in the future? Well , you`re a woman, so you can`t go into business, (half of the major Japanese companies don`t even consider the women they hire for the "managament track"), you should be a hostess and/ or marry a rich guy. How do you marry a rich guy? By looking right.
It`s not my place to say what`s right and wrong, each individual needs to decide that for themselves, but in order to make that decision, they need to have all of the information. |
