What's happening with adverts in the Moscow metro? As in, where have they all gone? Escalator passages are minimalist now.

i have noticed there are fewer adverts on the trains themselves as well.

Also, i have a feeling the adverts will return. I have noticed the removal of adverts from escalator walls before. I think they take them down to change them or something. The last time i saw bare walls was when Lushkov was dismissed and replaced. I read that the new mayor wated to reduce commercialisation and thought that the adverts were taken down for that reason. But then they returned again. This time it really could be it though!

heard something on the radio today about new restrictions on advertising in the metro. No tobacco, alcohol etc... But then they went on to say the law has been in force for a while and has been flouted. So, maybe this is the reaction.

Did some research on the net myself. Apparently, the company in charge of advertising, 'Olympia' I think, has been 'changed'. Don't quite know the ins and outs of it, but looks like a corporate tussle of some sort...
