Hello everyone,
It's been a while since I've posted - but I am curious to know what everyone's experience was like doing interviews in Turkey. Specifically, in the private highschools - what are some of the methods they use? Is there a panel? Or is is just the principal? Formal or informal? Do you bring your teaching portfolio, etc? Are there any helpful tips or great advice that you received from your colleagues?
I've never interviewed in Turkey so I'd love to hear your take on it

| My first interview for a job in Turkey was oversees via webcam. The second interview (at a different school) in Turkey was with the principal in an office, not hers though. I dressed as I would for an interview in the U.S. I wasn't asked a lot of questions and I don't think they really examined my resume since some questions asked could have been answered just by looking at my resume. Anyways, it was short and I was offered the position. |

These Skype interviews are cursory to say the least. Ten fingers ten toes? Speech impediment? Heavy accent? Ethnic?, god forbid. Meat market in video imagery. Everyone gets his/her 15 seconds Warhol style.
Marshall Mcullan was right, "The media is the message." At least if you have a web cam you don't have to wear pants. |
