Did anybody get their work visa (I mean this year's applicants).
Obviously, I'm not talking about business visa crowd.
If so when did you submitted to the embassy? |

I haven't even submitted mine yet. How long do you think it takes?
My contract states that i have to be in Saudi by the 17th September 2011.
Does anyone know how long the UK Saudi embassy takes to issue work visas? |

Nope.... And now it is the end of Ramadan, plus there will be the Eid holidays. Things might take a loooooooooong time to get resolved. |

I'm supposed to be in Saudi by Sep 3 and that's definitely not going to happen. I haven't submitted mine either yet, because I'm missing a few tiny tiny things and I'm afraid it's going to be sent back.
The medical reports are so frustrating - I am missing 2 tests and I have to go to another hospital :'( |

Yes, be Santa Claus before you send your package in...check it twice (at least)!
I HATE that damned medical for Saudi Arabia!

Mine took about 3-4 days.
As this is my first experience with the Saudi saga, I used a travel agent to apply for the visa, as I found enjazit really frustrating to deal with.
I dealt with certificate attestation at the cultural bureau and medicals myself, so if anyone needs a heads up, feel free to PM me.
ejc, if it helps, I did not submit any of the test results with my medical. No one asked for them and I was issued the work visa.
Good luck! |

I'm still missing "Bilharziasis" on my medical form. I've spoken to a couple doctors and nurses and receptionists and they're all like "What? Can you repeat that? ...Never heard of it."
Ugh. |

JK01 - it's amazing that you collected everything in 3-4 days. I'm on my 3rd week..
The visa company I'm working with is Atlantic Travel and Limo, and they seem to insist on a lot of stuff without exception.. but perhaps they'll be more lenient in truth.. (I hope). |

Usually nobody bothers with this test. Unless you have lived in places in certain parts of the world, you couldn't have it. It is endemic in rural Egypt. (don't swim in the canals). It is also called schistosomiasis and I doubt if they have tests for it in the US.

Hi ejc,
Sorry about the confusion.
The whole process was much longer... It took 3-4 days for the embassy to issue the visa once I had everything ready. This was the only point I used a travel agent, as they were charging too much to have the medical via them and for them to do the paperwork relating to certificate attestation.
I live in the UK, so things may be slightly different where you are.
After the cultural bureau received the formal letter from my employer (which seemed to take forever) the bureau/attache took about 2 weeks to attest my certificates.
I had my medical at my own GP, this was much cheaper than the private option. The only test I did privately was the blood test as the results were quicker. I have not heard of the test that you are referring to. My GP only required me to do a HIV test, perhaps because he had the other answers from my medical history.
The legalisation of the medical at FCO took about, 2-3 days. The whole process took about 3 weeks.
Once you have all the paperwork, it takes the embassy 2-3 days to issue the visa.
I hope this helps.
BTW where are you off to?

We got ours yesterday... If you are near-ish DC, you can drive up there. That is what we did. Droped the stuff at 10:30am and picked it up at 3pm. However, they'll be out until September 2nd for Eid.
Best of luck everyone |
