Hello All!

From what I can gather so far, teaching options are most lucrative in China and Korea. Within China, I think Bhutan would be an amazing place to teach, but I am having trouble finding information and resources on how to begin getting myself moving in that direction. If anyone could please throw me a bone here, I'd very much appreciate it! Thanks!

If you've exhausted your search of this site, then do a google search on bhutan teaching english and you'll be rewarded with a lot of information.

You are aware that Bhutan is tied to India (bilateral treaties) and NOT China. In fact they have no official diplomatic relations with China and have occasional border disputes with the PRC.

Hi: Check out Greenheart Travel. They have a new program called Teach in Bhutan and are looking for certified teachers. The closing date is July 22, 2011. I applied but unfortunately I am a non-degree holder and over the age of 60 so did not qualify. You will need $4000 for the start up expenses. Hope it works out for you.

Bhutan is a closed country to most people. It has closer ties with Nepal and India than it does with China.

It is almost completely remote and they strictly control tourist numbers there. I was booked to go on a tour group there and the government just changed their mind and the group was cancelled. Didn't lose any money from it, but still. Apparently, pop stars like Madonna have been known to head to the remote mountain country to relax.

Well, rather than cancelled, I mean, didn't provide the final confirmation.

Did you read Beyond the Sky and the Earth, then? Very romantic, that.

Hey,

I'm currently teaching in Bhutan and it is really a great experience. I suggest looking into Bhutan Canada Foundation - www.teachinbhutan.org - to apply for a teaching position.

You won't make money - $500 pm - but you maybe spend $50-$100 each month (and $100 if you really try).

For instance, I don't have to pay rent, electricity, or water because I live on school campus. My expenditures are food ($0.50 for 1kg of potatoes), phone vouchers ($1), and random things.

I strongly suggest teaching in Bhutan for the culture. It's certainly not Shangri La, it has it's share of problems, but it's unlike any other country.

anyone can feel free to pm me for more information Smile
