Uh huh.
We? Am I on a chatline?
The language of the post is what I address. Whether I'm pleased isn't an issue.
What's yet to be answered, and what I addressed, is that there's no single salary minimum to relate to the OP-- different employers with different objectives offer varying salaries.
I related a conservative figure for a new-hire from the highest paying employer in Saudi Arabia and was corrected, vaguely.
I wasn't relating the all-time-high record for an Aramco teacher.
What's more, my correction is from two posters that have posted to this forum that they've worked for military and petro concerns-- a salary likely higher than the average university position and certainly higher than the majority of offers being asked about on this forum-- the infamous preparatory year. |

Casting my reply as angry avoids actually discussing a topic. I try not to characterize posters, but that's just me.
This thread's topic is someone posting their job experience and soliciting figures with no ME experience.
I responded to this post because I was intrigued by a director's redundancy. The idea of a well-paid admin scouting salaries and knowing what I do about Saudi administration. *
I'd assume the OP is prepared, and maybe even eager, to just be teaching again, but I was picturing a manager coming cold. Their odds made me think of a roulette wheel.
But anybody can get lucky.
* Not necessarily that it's bad, but how western and eastern conventions differ. |

Dear blackwellben,
"But anybody can get lucky."
True - but in Saudi, getting unlucky is probably more common

I was under the impression Aramco mostly hired through contractors these days? That was certainly the case when I was offered an interview.
The money package was big, but it had to cover everything that would normally be thrown in for free anyway (accommodation, travel allowance, flights, health insurance, etc) so it may not be as impressive as you might think. |

Yes, ARAMCO hiring is primarily thru contractors, but there was a spurt of direct hire interviews earlier this year (that may well be continuing).
Regarding your reference to a big salary package from contractors, could you provide a ballpark figure?

And how about your relating a range for petrol workers?
Because for all the fishin', and tellin' others what's a catch, I don't see much quid pro quo. |

| Anything around $4.5k - $7.5/month for an ARAMCO contractor (unfortunately I was offered the lower figure and I know people on the higher one). But as a previous poster said, you have to pay for accommodation and local transport out of that. Three flights a year to your point of origin are included in the package. |

I'm forced to wonder why aspersion is a response to a question-- what's the range for an ESL/P oil contract with which you're familiar?
Employers with different objectives offer varying salaries.
The consensus is Aramco tops the list;
followed by other oil company courses and military courses;
university lecturers *;
preparatory instructors, and;
language institute teachers.
*KAUST equaling Aramco's top earners |

Thanks, desertdawg.
$7.5/mo. would be doable, but barely so. Three flights home per year is quite good.

Uh-huh
Well, lessee...
You entered this thread to support LeapingWolf's criticism my reporting 60K for a starting salary from Aramco was woefully low and "uninformed".
But it wasn't, was it? Especially given the lack of direct-hires.
You've claimed elsewhere to have worked for oil companies (not language institutes or directly for universities) that, as salaries go, offer more. I'm asking you to contribute to a thread attempting to answer What salary might i receive in Saudi with your claimed experience.
But you seem content to merely criticize, poorly, or solicit others for figures you give measure, poorly, such as what's "doable", but "barely so" while complaining in another thread about non-specific and relative expression such as "not so bad".
Are you indicating 81k/yr for a job involving courses purposed by oil companies is an acceptable starting salary?
Because you don't seem to know so much about ARAMCO, or rather, have been gone too long to speak to the present.
How about a range, based on your experience?
Now if LeapingWolf could give us a salary range for courses purposed by the military, meaningful responses to this thread's topic might be achieved by the posters contributing to it. |
