So I'm flying to Turkey tomorrow, and while I have no cell phone I recently purchased an unlocked Galaxy Tab with a SIM Card slot. The question is, what can I do for phone plans in Turkey? Can I get a data plan? And could I get a monthly or pay-as-you-go plan, at least at first?
Thanks,

There are 3 main phone companies: Turkcell, Vodafone, and Avea. You can walk into any shop and buy a SIM card for about 30TL. It's not possible to get a contract as a foreigner, so everybody does pay as you go. They recently added these great packages where you get about 10,000SMS for 10TL. That's what everyone uses. Minutes are expensive. BTW I've had all 3 and my opinion is: Turkcell is the most expensive but the most popular, so can be good for Turkcell to Turkcell packages, Vodafone has the best reception, and Avea is the cheapest. |

Thanks. But I don't like text messages. Do any of these networks have data plans?
Thanks again,

I just got a Turkcell Sim and it's costing me .41TL per message/per minute.
Kind of expensive. Do they still have those packages available? The store clerk didn't mention 10,000sms with the 10TL... |
