I appreciate the note of agreement, but I didn't so much mean wait to have kids. Though that's not necessarily a bad idea, if you're still young. I meant that, in time, and ESPECIALLY if you have kids, you'll find that those feeling of team spirit, and things being golden, and having a best friend have a way of ... um ... evolving. Everyone feels that way at first, though, before they have kids.

Wow ... that's a lot of "we." Do you guys ride a bicycle-built-for-two to work? Do you teach the same lesson simultaneously in adjacent classrooms, like synchronized swimmers? And, not to get too personal, but I gotta ask ... tandem toilets?

To the OP: I'd ignore dickheads like this if I were you.

Someone (Nature Girl?) mentioned DOD schools. That seems like a really good avenue to check up on, especially if you plan to have kids. You could have the opportunity to work in different countries, stay with the same employer, and your kids would be exposed to local as well as American culture/people/language. I think it's pretty tough to get hired but certainly worth investigating.

Yep, good way to go. DOD or DODEA, I think they're both together. It's hard to get in. I've heard of people being on the list for years. But if you're patient or teach a subject that's hard to find, you'll get inl

As far as being exposed to local culture if you work for the DOD, don't count on it. Even if you live off base. The majority of the peopel I know who work for them here couldn't even name the closest subway stop to their house let alone say anything in the country's language.
