Why indeed. Even if it's all true then clearly no laws have been broken, since the age of consent in China is 14. So what we have is a bunch of moral imperialists trying to inflict their values on a stanger in a foreign country. How weird is that? It's not like there's anything even approaching a universal moral code. It all comes down to personal opinions, which of course apply to no one except the person that holds them. It doesn't seem to stop these wowsers though Smile

Aramas, would you feel the same way if one of those women were your sister or daughter? Would you think it's okay for him to objectify them and destroy their reputations if one of them were someone close to you? News flash, Aramas! Women deserve better than that from men. The fact that you would trivialize Mr. Whitjohn's actions says a lot about your character.

My 2 cents tells me that he is very good at getting people to smile (you know how hard that is if you try to tack pic`s) and ya his writings arent so nice and some pic1s arent so cool either, But thats is life and I hope I can make people happy when I am so old (better than sitting in the bread line if I remember right in TW no one wants you after you turn 30 and I know its much harder here)
Anyway this guy is 60 and still working and making people smile never mind his posts I dont believe them girls are not so stupid even in China

I have worked with an old man and he has a dirty mind but always treats girls good and makes them happy ( never tried to kiss them he said it doesnt work now!)

Where will you be at 60???

If the best a 'predator' could do was to run up and smile at something then it wouldn't survive long Smile

I have been told that the age of consent is 18, not 14.

14 would be like 12-13 in western years and that is just not right.

'Great Wall of Whiner', I only wish that what you have been told was in some sense meaningful and germane. Then, 'Aramas', would not be right. For, unfortunately, he is; or rather, he accurately cites what is commonly held to be the 'correct' (read, common) interpretation of the age of consent on mainland China.

I say 'interpretation' since, although you will indeed be able to find reference to the age in question being 14, you must have already defined (at least) 'age', 'consent', and, ultimately, any expressions such as 'sexual relations' and 'sexual conduct' for this to be in any sense applicable. It is in this area that China plays a card of strategic ambiguity.

At:

http://www.avert.org/aofconsent.htm

for example, the age of consent in China is listed as 14. Indeed, you will find the same at:

http://www.voyagenow.com/travel-references/en/wikipedia/a/ag/age_of_consent.html

However, this is actually only inferred from other ages and acts which are more clearly defined. Arguably, officially China has no 'age of consent', or, rather, prefers not to explicitly state such a figure. China certainly does not offer any age of consent to international bodies nor does it respond directly to any such query. What it does offer with no ambiguity, however, is a definition of as to what constitutes rape. See:

http://www.interpol.int/Public/Children/SexualAbuse/NationalLaws/csaChina.asp

where it states that under mainland Chinese law "Carnal knowledge with girls aged under fourteen (14) years is considered rape". This is what to many in the west is commonly known as statutory rape (and from which the age of consent can be reasonably drawn).

There are many reasons why Beijing may retain this (from a western point of view, somewhat low) age of consent. I think we should not forget that there is estimated to be in excess of some 400 million poverty-stricken country workers in China and for many of such people 'early' reproduction is essential if crops - and thus life is to be maintained season by season, year by year. Toiling in the fields for 16 hours a day, 365 days a year is hard work and such workers tend to age early and thus, sometimes, quite literally need to be 'replaced' (at least in the sense of responsibility for the more physically demanding tasks) as soon as is genetically possible.

(I suppose it may also suit China to be able to one day allow couples to have more than one child and for this process to begin at 14. (After all, it is somewhat challenging to say the very least to see who else is to purchase all the blocks of flats that are springing up down the entirety of the east coast.))

It should also not ever be forgotten that many, many 'modern' nations have either relatively low ages of consent or, in some cases, no such concept at all and also rely on such an age by mere inference. Saudi Arabia is a candid example of the latter, with laws stating only that the girl "must be married" which, of course, diverts attention to the age of consent (for marriage) rather than that for actual sex.

12 to 14 has traditionally been the age of consent. It is only in the last few years that it has been raised many years beyond the onset of puberty, mainly to placate western do-gooder busibodies who get their prurient kicks out of interfering with everybodyl else's life.

Well-said Capergirl. Anybody who trivialises this kind of behaviour must be totally sick! This website really grossed me out. Disgusting stuff!! Very sad indeed! It's men like that that give teachers a very bad rep abroad.

Trivialising the trivial is sick, sick, sick! Anyone that disagrees must be an evil pervert!

I find it remarkable that a little webpage that contains no nudity, sex or violence elicits similar derision to that expressed in another thread regarding a widespread culture of indiscriminate kidnapping, torture and murder of innocent civilians over a period of several years. I find that rather sick.

From one of the links provided by Herr Ludwig:-
Quote:

III.Other forms of child sex abuse

Indecent assault against the will of women or by force

Punishment: imprisonment for up to 5 years or forced labour.

If the offender assaults or insults women in public, he will be punished with imprisonment for over 5 years.

I wonder how insults women in public is defined?

But then again, this law has been listed under Other forms of child sex abuse, so maybe it doesn't apply to adult women?

Cheers

This is straight from a CP member's mouth:

In China there is NO age of consent. ALL, read that again, ALL sex outside of marriage is illegal. How the law is applied is subjective though. Meet the wrong person or her daddy on the wrong day and trouble might be knocking because it's on the books.

While tolerated much more than the past, risks are especially high for college co-eds or those younger wishing to enter university. The consequences could be dismissal from school and repayment of expenses to the school. A high school student might have her chances for entrance into university nullified.

Can the women who keep using the term "pedaphile" and "sick" please tell me how old they think these girls are.
Sure it's tacky that he is boasting and telling all about his sexploits on a web site, but since when has telling the truth been a crime? If indeed it is true, if it's not then of course lieing is worse. BUT if every guy who had exagerated or even downright lied about his conquests where put in prison then there wouldn't be many public toilets with the seat up I can tell you.
Could it be that the biggest crime that this guy is guilty of is being 60? It's only when you leave Europe behind do you realize what an ageist society we lived in.
Locker room talk on a web site is not sick unless your a character from a Disney movie.
