hi guys,
have you got any idea about how one finds jobs in Khalifa Bin Zayed Air College in al ain? isn`t it part of IAT aviation academy? i have searched thru the net but haven`t found much info.

Last I heard the EFL program was run by CERT @ HCT.
Dunno how up to date that is though with all these cut backs and changes at HCT. |

| There were about 15 teachers in their English language department a couple of years ago. Salary range was about 16-18,000. I just heard that this has recently gone up to 20,000 plus the usual benefits. Not bad, eh! |

Just found out that the program is run by CERT-HCT.
System wide I do believe 'new hires' are coming in on 20k, which leaves all us old hands still getting under that more than a little annoyed especially after our annual 4% increment was taken away this year. |

| Up until 2005 it was a nice gig.then when it was taken over by the certifiables the men were sent all over the place,a lot ending up at UGRU,or even MZ.The English dept.was run by some poor (in the ability sense)paddy who was actually employed by the military and didn't give a fig about the Cert employees,most of whom were,erm,mature Canadian ladies(mature in the age sense,not in the sense sense)the most intelligent of whom left after a year or a bit later.Where there's a Will there's a Way-a Way out! |

Why would "mature" women make up the majority of teachers at an aviation college?
Their mission statement:
The College's mission is to prepare candidates for successful service in the UAE Armed Forces as highly qualified pilot officers, while enhancing their self confidence, leadership potential and physical fitness, and to provide them with the academic knowledge required to enable them to fully comprehend military sciences, academic sciences, air sciences and practical flight sciences.
Wouldn't it make sense to employ former military, ideally pilots, to teach there? Even the English curriculum should be focused on the field of aviation, at least the more advanced courses.

MEB, maybe you've forgotten the unofficial logo of HCT-CERT: Whatever you can do, we can do for less.
I was in that last year at the MLI when we were sold out by Tubby the Kamel. I won't lay out his dirty laundry in this post, but let's just say that in the VERY last days...and I mean the Wednesday afternoon of the last week, multitudes were told to go to all ends of the Emirates and be at their appointed posts all bright and shiny-eyed at 8 a.m. on Saturday. This left them with the balance of Wednesday and the weekend to transport their goods to their new work locales, find a place to live, and get ready for work on Saturday.
Among the unfortunate was one of the biggest collections of nasty Canadians and Australians...and I happen to be partial to both (having Canadian ancestry).
But, that's why there was a collection of mature Canadian matrons there. |
