Hey!

I've been applying for ELT job vacancies for over a week in Madrid and just 3 out of 40 schools I'd contacted got back to me. What is the average period I have to wait untill my application is processed? Thx in advance for any tips!

If you are applying from abroad, it's a long-shot. This is the hiring season, but all over continental Europe, there are teachers on the streets applying in person. Most schools will give preference to an applicant standing in front of them in person to one sight-unseen.

Best idea for all of Europe: pick a city and get over here asap.

Ah! Perhaps it's still just a bit early in the month for things to get going quickly - in any case, you should have a decent shot at employment, so good luck to you.

On the bright side, at my last count, there were over 300 schools/academies/agencies in Madrid, so if you apply to the other 260 then you should get 18 more!

...seriously, hiring season has barely started - companies are just back from their summer holidays, working out who needs English classes, and what groups they can be put in. Serious recruiting lasts well into mid-October, so hang in there Smile
