@freesoul,
What exactly is wrong with SBC? I've read some complaints but there in 2004-2007. I spoke to someone recently and she said she didn't have any problems working for them. |
Dear Princess,
I really hope they have changed and will treat you as Amira. However, to the best of my information, none of the 2007 management team has (been) changed since; some things never change. |

"Anyway, as for the more enjoyable aspect of KSA life (shopping) then definitely buy your H&M, Next and whatever brand clothes from the UK as KSA prices are extortionate. During their sales in KSA the prices are comparable to the usual full price in the UK."
If, as I think, the post is advising the OP to buy clothes in the UK and haul them to Saudi since the prices are higher in the Kingdom, then that is, to use a technical term, baloney.
I have to wonder why someone would want to mislead other posters by putting bad info on here.
Buy your clothes in Batha - not from some high-end mall store in Riyadh (or anywhere else.)

I don't think that was misleading. Some people prefer the brand names from back home. But in the Gulf those brand names will be much more expensive than back home. For instance, any JCPenney store in the Gulf seemed to have designer mall store prices in the Gulf when I was there - whereas we think of it as a relatively cheap downmarket store for clothing.
But there are plenty of "discount" clothing stores as you mention.

Dear veiledsentiments,
What I meant was this:
1. Is it a good idea to take up valuable luggage space with winter coats?
2. Brand names CAN be bought in Batha - and before you say, "But they're knock offs," well, if they are, they certainly are well-made. I'm still using (a dozen and more years later) shirts, coats, pants etc. that I bought in Batha at prices considerably lower than I could ever find here in the States.
Regards,
John |

As long as others can't tell the difference between "knock offs" and authentic merchandise |

Well the videos are mainly of the construction work which is going to be nearly 100% foreign males, so I wouldn't expect to see any women.
I was just a bit amused by the '"biggest women's university" in the world description on the first one, as if there were many countries in this competition and more importantly, as if bigger is better.
I wonder if all those beige boxes were housing for students or faculty.

| It is huge, indeed. Ive driven along for about 25 minutes at a good speed. One of the architects is a very good friend of mine and Ive met some of the Saudi teachers that are highly dedicated, excellent professionals and wonderful human beings |

| I have been offered a position in Riyadh at PNU via Adwaa and by researching past posts on this University, I am cautious, to say the least. Is anyone familiar with this particular recruiter? In their employment ads, they are listing that they have hundreds of jobs available? Are there any updates on the living conditions of the 'compounds' and working conditions? Thanks in advance! |

But if the ads are correct, PNU is hiring 300+ FEMALE instructors in the KSA?
Will they even get 30? |

I believe the one on the right is for the 300+ new faculty members. Then, again, I could be wrong. I could be the one on the left.
It's what they think about non-Saudis! |

| I worked at the largest women's university - www.ewha.ac.kr and there at least 30 teachers. Where will PNU get that many females to work there? Look at Jubail and they have poorly qual'd teachers. Where will PNU get 20+ ? |

So ...are these legitimate positions and is it worth speaking to the agencies about these advertisings?
Is PNU a good place to work? |
