I heard a story about a guy who had contractual problems. He solved it quite ingeniously. One day he went into his classroom and sat down after he wrote on the board the following: "Teacher doesn't work until teacher gets paid."
I'm not suggesting you do something so brash. However, a contract protects both parties, and clearly they are not going to give you or themselves such protection or ethical obligation. Moreover, since you were hired with one certain contract (given to immigration for your visa) and now you are not doing work under that, your employer has defrauded immigration.
Contact the labor standards office.
Ask someone back home to loan you the money.
