|
|
This is a rough outline of the expenses I'll encounter before I even get to Taiwan to look for a job. Any advice/corrections/or constructive criticism is welcome.
CELTA Bangkok Package - $2,100
One-Way Ticket to Bangkok - $568
1 Month of Food + $30 Utilities (Studio in Bangkok) $400 + $30 = $430
"Extra" expenses (drinks and emergency cash) - $400
One-Way Ticket to Taiwan - $210
Living expenses in Taiwan before acquiring a job - $2,200
TOTAL - $5,908 MINIMUM
Thank you. |

What kind of degree do you already have? The Taiwan government only cares that you have a Bachelor's degree. If you have that, don't bother with CELTA, because employers in general here don't care about qualifications. It won't get you any better jobs, and it won't get you a higher pay rate. If you have some kind of associate degree and need extra EFL certification for your work permit, get the cheapest recognized TEFL certificate you can find. |

Good point, but I figured I can knock the CELTA out the way just in case I don't find opportunities to work or I find a better, more suitable position in the future. I do have a BA in Deaf Studies (ASL Interpretation & Deaf Culture) from a reputable Cal State. |
