Sashadroogie has not posted this so I thought I would. A terrible loss of life. I have had my share of sorties on Russian aircraft. Always an adventure!

An entire hockey team and coaching staff killed, save for one player. They were on their way to the first game of the season.

Are Russian aircraft still as dodgy as they used to be? I flew Athens to London in 1981 on a Balkan Bulgarian Airlines (Russian built) plane. Even the appearance of the thing made you uneasy. Anyway, we landed and took off at Sofia and Brussels and we made it home to blighty.

First off, terrible tragedy.
Secondly, yes, many Russian planes are in terrible shape. I fly all over eastern Siberia and the Russian Far East, and there are many times I seriously thought twice about leaving the plane once I'd seen what it was like. But, still here!
