Hi, I've got two questions about the Dave's online resume:

1. Has anybody here gotten a job through it?
2. What's the format exactly? (Since I can't see examples without paying) Is it a full resume + cover letter, just a resume, just a cover letter, cover letter with condensed resume (e.g. contact for references), or what?

Thanks,
~Q

Never gotten a job. Usually its just recruiters from China and such offering you low paying jobs. I'm sure there are some jobs out there, good ones. But for example, I put, want to teach uni and I get job offers from kindergartens.

Format is whatever you want it to be. Personally, I'd rather apply to jobs that interest me, then put my email up to get tons of emails from jobs I don't want.

Ahh, yes China. I think I may actually have listed my resume on there once upon a time, since I now seem to recall being briefly flooded with ads for jobs in China. I subscribe to a couple of mailing lists for jobs though, so it could have come through one of those.

Well, I suppose if things really don't work out in Turkey, it might be worth a shot.

Thanks,
~Q

I never got a job, but I did get some 'backup' offers. My format was a basic resume, and info on where I'd like to teach.

Some of the replies I got were from 'English language schools' which couldn't write a decent email in English. Most were from slick recruiters.
If you're seriously looking for a job it's another iron in the fire.

All my jobs in Taiwan, South Korea, Japan and China were all from here.

In all cases it was a simple letter of introduction with contact info. stating that if they want my full CV/Resume they can send me their school info. and their offer.

With the heaps of offers, I was able to screen out the crap.

Good luck.

I'd recommend setting up a 'jobs' email address. I put my resume on the site using my personal email address and it got flooded, for about a week after I posted my resume my morning routine would consist of deleting pages of emails. I'm not going to lie, it put a smile on my face when I first saw them, but after a few days it wore thin.

Looking back, I was too vague in what I asked for. I would say be precise and know what you want, though you will still probably get a few offers that have no correlation as to what you asked for.
