Does anyone know about 2nd class buses from OC to SanCristobal? I'm moving down and have alot of stuff to take. Or, if I take the 1st class bus, will there be a charge for extra baggage? (4 bags and 3 boxes) |

For second class busses (I assume by OC you mean Oaxaca City?) you will probably have to change buses in Juchitan or Tehuantapec. You might be able to get one to Tuxtla and change there. Just go to the ticket bus website and choose SUR as the linea Oaxaca as the departune and see which cities pop up on the options for destination.
There is a charge for excess baggage--I have no idea how much, but that's the price you pay for keeping your stuff!
If it were me, no way no how would I make that trip on a second class bus, I'm guessing it will take more than 24 hours. For me, paying more to go first class, even with excess baggage fees would be well worth it. |

What Mother F said. You probably will have to pay for extra stuff, but it might not be much, depending on how many people are on the bus. I have seen people with the same amount give the guy who loads the luggage 50 pesos that that was that. |

I agree that taking a first class bus is the way to go. I think going to Tuxtla Gutirrez and then getting a bus to San Cristbal would be the most direct route. Of course, if it were me, I would fly to Tuxtla and take a bus from there, but if money is a concern, then you'll have to deal with a long bus trip. Good luck with your move! Where will you be teaching in San Cristbal? |

Thanks for your comments, think I'll go on the first class bus. La Casa en el Arbol is where I'll be teaching. Less pay but sounds very appealing. Anyone ever heard of it? |
