Wow...it could just be me but everyone on this post seem quite content with the fact that they could die any day in KSA. Is that normal? I know it can happen anywhere, but still, isn't there any concern about your safety and your family's safety when they seem to target Westerners?

The US travel advisory is still suggesting terror activity, up to a few months ago, and warning Americans not to go to KSA if they don't have to so I'm definitely interested in hearing how you all deal with it each day.

I specifically searched safety and security to read about issues before I decided whether to take the job offer currently on the table.

Many drink. Some don't. Personally, I couldn't have made it as long w/o my little "friend"!

It's what you make of it!

Dear Fernwood,

They target Westerners here in the US, too. Remember 9/11? What place is the world today is safe? Oh, admittedly some are less safe than others (Iraq, Afghanistan, and especially Juarez, Mexico come to mind.) But all things considered, you're likely as safe - and probably safer - in, say, Jeddah, Riyadh or Dammam than in, say, Detroit or New Orleans.

EXCEPT FOR THE DRIVERS - that's the REAL threat in Saudi.

Regards,
John
