Has anyone worked for or know anything about FIST (it's a bit of a dodgy name!). I would appreciate it if anyone has anything to say about the company (good or bad).
Thanks

Don't know much about the company, but the movie, made in the 80's, starred Sylvester Stallone.

Here's a question: Why would anybody even ask about working for a company with such a name? Rolling Eyes

It's a serious question!

They're headquartered in the Velvet Glove Building, aren't they?

"FIST Company is a joint-venture between Fahad International Group (Saudi Arabia) and Specialist Training Australia (Dubai) and is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia."

Not a bad employer/students/class size comparatively. Think you would be doing mainly IELTS preparation increasing 4.5 - 5/5.5.

The main problem now I believe is that they are bringing new hires in on a much lower salary than existing people.

"Fist"? "Velvet Glove Building"?... Sounds like a language center for comically bad secret agents.

"FIST! Holy smoke, Batman!" - Shocked

Yes, mrbobbins, FIST does really exist...
It has a website, so it must be for real... Smile
http://fistcompany.com/about_us

It superseded STA as a sub-contractor for Saudi Development and Training late last year.

STA used to pay its SDT teachers around SAR. 17,000 -18,000.
How much is FIST offering these days?

I suppose that if a teacher wants to satisfy FIST, they will
really have to knuckle down!

Do a search on this forum for STA--then run away.

Fahad Int'l is the in-kingdom sponsor for STA's employees. The whole setup stinks to the lowest point of hell.

STA sucks in nine kinds of ways. I worked for them years ago.

Speaking of blows, I have a punchline concerning FIST, but it would definitely cause grimaces and a banning from this site! Embarassed

It's tough biting your...erm...fingers!

I'm guessing, It's Scary,
that your joke is simply too 'near the knuckle'
for this forum. Smile

Oh, God. This is getting strained. And about as exciting as watching a French movie in French. The Four Hundred Blows, of course.

Dear Badar Bin Bada Boom,

Or, considering that it's the Kingdom - and why EFLers go there - maybe this one would be more appropriate:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058461/

John

Apologies, Badar Bin Bada Boom :
I can be a bit of a knucklehead sometimes...Smile

Setting aside Franois Truffaut for a moment;
who else remembers "It's a Knockout!" with a smile?
