Permanent residence status doesn't compel you to stay in a place permanently. In the case of China it allows the holders to do any private sector job, and to start a business just like a Chinese citizen can, among other things. Of course, it also means you don't need visas. |

Correct, but shows just how useless Chinese permanent residency is. You can theoretically do any private sector job, but in reality, you still can't get any job except those specifically tailored to foreigners. You know, the same jobs you could get back before you had the permanent residency. You can't realistically compete with Chinese nationals for normal jobs, even if your language skills are up to par.
Ability to start a business is the only useful aspect I see. |
