I was just in Peizheng for 4 days ONLY....and apparently the guy I was drinking with Friday night died of a heart attack. Is this the same person you are talking about? Why aren't any of the idiots who run Peizhing discussing this?

The idiots who are running the place are certainly not going to announce the death of a FT on campus. We would be lucky if they even acknowledged it at all. The FAO at PZ has been under fire from the FTs for some time now. And, most every FT who has been there a while is more than aware of the corruption and misdeeds. PZ recently changed the name of the FAO; most likely to divert attention. So, I'm sure the FAO doesn't desire any more attention and, this death is certainly nothing more than a major inconvenience for them.

Another FT at PZ died over the summer from cancer. When the FAO knew he wasn't well, they canceled his contract for Autumn and wanted him and his wife to move out ASAP. The FAO Director was heartless and wouldn't even let the ill FT and his wife stay at another FT's place when the other FT offered them safe haven. This is the way the FAO handles matters as such. And, the FT who died, had been teaching there for many years. Truly a sad situation!

With all due respect to the deceased, and without knowing the particulars of his illness, the last thing I'd do if I had cancer would be to continue living and working in China. Is there any reason he chose to stay here instead of going back to his home for another opinion and/or treatment? This one should be a no-brainer but I suppose if he'd been here "many years" maybe he felt he had nothing to go back to. Still . . . this is your life you're talking about.

He was diagnosed at such an advanced stage that there was no time to do anything about. His life and wife were here, and the news of his extreme illness came as a shock to all concerned. Out of respect for him, I'd rather not discuss it anymore than this. I only mentioned it here because of the way the Peizheng FAO director handled the situation was atrocious!
