I'm contemplating accepting a job offer at PNU with Adwaa in Riyadh.
Anyone already accept and move out there yet?
How is the University? Classes?
How are the accomodations and facilities on the compound? |

Hi
I was recruited 4 weeks ago by Adwaa.
I had been offererd in total 4 contracts
and in one case had been close to finalising
but that particular company added horrible
clauses and it was not clear where I would go
and they said up to 48 hours over 6 days
so I was pleased to see the Adwaa contract
but everything is a delay
I thought from the phone interview I would be there by 7th
then 14th then 21st.
my visa came through the other day
but I am still waiting for rest of docs
which I was told I would have by today
they seem very nice but certainly not timely |

Waiting for Godot,
I asked Adwaa the questions below but they have not answered them yet. Do you have any insights?
1) Will married women be allowed to sponsor their husband?
2) What type of housing is provided? Single or shared housing?
3) Are all teachers housed in the same compound? Is the compound located on campus? or near the campus?
4) Are teachers able to obtain a multiple-entry/exit visa after they get their iquama?
5) When is the start and finish date of the contract? When is the vacation? |

Do they really have a chance at recruiting 200 female teachers? |

hey all considering accepting that adwaa contract...DO NOT ACCEPT! this is what another poster posted about their experience with Adwaa and PNU:
"Well when I arrived a driver was trying to take my passport at the airport..and then held my clothes and education documents in the boot of his car at the hotel and demanded my passport for 2 hours.
Then the police got invoved pulled the SBC manager into the police station made him pay my complete stay in Riyadh including food and transportation. "
the adwa contract its NOT a direct contract . the job ads are misleading! AND the saudi british centre has a reputation for threatening and teaching their teachers like crap. moreover, even if you ask, they do not disclose any information about their compound....(i wonder why...hah!) |

Gee, poster whose screen name begins with "gee__", I guess you got your answer on how Adwaa is. And, it didn't take some poor girl hauling a six-month-older through that kind of Hell!
It had already been foretold! |

Gosh - that is really scary.
Was the incident you reported this year or a previous occasion?
It seems like they play games - mind games
all over the websites are ads looking for teachers
"urgently" and then they mess you around.
The pay is not that fantastic either. |

The thing is that their website shows affiliations with Heriot Watt University and Brunel and a number of other prestigious colleges who would not permit their website to appear on theirs if their conduct with them was not of a high professional standard.
They are supposed to be in business since 2005 and their websites are very impressive indeed.
I have to say the person who interviewed me did not have a perfect command of English and certainly the promises he made by telephone were not borne out.
I also got a friend on OZ to check them out before committing and she seemed to think they seemed fairly legit. Though I have to say the level of efficiency I have encountered provides opportunity for improvement. |

Regardless of their affiliations u have to realize that it is NOT Adwaa or Princess Noura who is sponsoring you. it is Saudi British Centre (SBC). If you read the contract carefully it states that your employer is SBC.
SBC has a reputation for pulling these things with their teachers. they are goons and criminals.
Be wary. |

I arrived here yesterday. They picked me up at the airport , handed me with an abbya, give me 1000 SR and then drove me to an a hotel. The last job I had in Ha'il, I was left at the airport with a group of people. We all had to go and buy our own abbyas and then they didn't know where they were going to take us.
When people arrive, they are required to hand in their passports for a change in their visa.
I thought the pay was decent considering that when I was in the US, it was difficult finding work. Also you have to look at the other benefits the salary is tax free, you don't pay for housing, medical, visa fees etc. |

Fantastic! You found an employer who could find somebody who could find the airport, had enough cultural awareness to realize that women in the Kingdom need an abaya...and then, found a hotel.
You can only go down from here!
It's the least that they could do!

That is great.
I was wondering how I could locate an abbaya
and what I would do about money for food.
I was offered a position by the University of Hail
but it was rather "no frills", although the Head
sounded rather charming.
We will all be anxiously awating to hear how you get on
and about accommodation etc
I am presuming there are University canteens where we could dine reasonably. The gold souks don't interest me.
Thanks and looking forward to updates |
