hi all. thanks for everyone's posts - they've been quite informative. i'm an american citizen with a b.a. and j.d. from good schools, a california law license, and approx. 3 years experience practicing law. no teaching certificates and no teaching experience. i've heard of j.d.'s teaching american law in foreign universities, and i'm also willing to teach english, though i'd prefer it be at a private/int'l school. i'm looking to settle in turkey, not change countries every few years. would you recommend i hold off on applying until i have certification(s) and experience, or say go for it? teşekkr ederim! |

Tbh, I'm not sure if there's a market for someone teaching American law at a Turkish uni. I somehow doubt it. I'd say your best bet is to contact large law firms in Istanbul that work with the US or the EU. You MIGHT get lucky there.
If you're committed to teaching, though, I don't think unis or int'l schools are your best bet. Private business schools or private lessons would play more to your strengths and probably be more lucrative.
Just my 2 kurus - others may have more experience in this than I. |
