So ...are these legitimate positions and is it worth speaking to the agencies about these advertisings?

Is PNU a good place to work?

hey fernwood so adwaa rabia's so called "direct" contract isn't so direct after all. i received a contract with Saudi British Centre written all all over it. have to teach at their language centres. no mention of PNU. i wonder if anyone has any real direct hire leads to PNU.

But...some poster told me to take the contract, my 6-month-old child and some meds for the baby and report back to her in broken English how it went!

What to do? Oh, what to do???

It's about as self-serving and stupid advice as one has seen on this site for quite some time/ever!

Well when I arrived a driver was trying to take my passport at the airport..and then held my clothes and education documents in the boot of his car at the hotel and demanded my passport for 2 hours.

Then the police got invoved pulled the SBC manager into the police station made him pay my complete stay in Riyadh including food and transportation. Very Happy

Most do it, by the sounds of it.. but not all. I know someone in Riyadh at the moment.. they haven't got an iqama yet, but should be getting it soon.. and they've still got their own passport. No one asked for it..

And I too would like to know what's up with adwaa? It's not handy to say that it's not worth going there without saying why Smile

Kudos Redcar24!

Thank you for proving the point to the doubters who have knuckled under to such threats that employers have no right to hold passports. Some here still don't believe that there is in fact a law about that here. The authorities will enforce that law, but people must have their wits about them, and also have a backbone.

Capt. Willard

Dear Captain Willard,

Oh you scamp - this is SO funny:

"The authorities will enforce that law, but people must have their wits about them, and also have a backbone."

Of course, who would possibly believe that the "authorities" would take the side of a Westerner against that of a Saudi?

And that's what makes it so hilarious.

Comedy is definitely your forte, Captain.

Regards,
John

It's a possibility! Laughing

Son,

The shoe's on the other foot now. I worked for U.S. defense companies who had all the right princes in all the right places who could not and would not allow our passports to NOT be confiscated for safe-keeping. Redcar24 is spinning a tale and you have fully bought into it in desperation to prove your point! Unless PNU can trump the Boeing Corporation, you need to stay silent on this issue.

You have repeatedly embarrassed your user name on this forum through your OBVIOUS misunderstanding of the realities on the ground. John and I, however, different in our experiences as he worked for major Saudi influences and I worked for major defense influences, know EXACTLY what is and is NOT possible under Saudi reality. VS gets her information from well-known informants.

I'm tired of humouring you. You know not of what you say and you cling to anonymous reports to support your uniformed position.

You need to live there to actually be able to remark on what is right and what is wrong!

It's not worth commenting on further!
