I heard that the upper age limit of 60 has been relaxed.
I have a friend who may apply if that is the case.
Anyone care to comment? |

Is there an HCT in Oman, or are you referring to the one in the UAE?

As I understand the MOM, the upper age limit for NEW hires is 60 but once you are in, you can stay working with the same company for years to come. |

I have it on good authority..ie head of dept..that the upper age limit is enforced no matter who you are and at what age you arrived. There are plenty of people looking for jobs, so they can afford to be picky, and unfortunately in Oman, if you are 60 and above...you are old! |

VS is completely correct.
I hate to say this but Ma, your comments on the last few threads have not been helpful or funny. Seems someone got burned or is upset and dumping their sh$% all over here. |

I am curious if people were hired over 60 or just kept on once they turned 60. |

All that I know were hired well before 60... although I know of one who changed Oman employers when over 60...

I know people who were hired before 60 and kept on, people who were hired above 60 from out of country and people who transferred above 60.
It depends on how much your employer argues for you at the Ministry.
I do know that, in some organisations, medical coverage changes beyond 60 (I'm not sure how legal this is) and that, beyond 70 even a visa is impossible. |
