what about your comments about me? my business interests? or my request (repeated) for clarification about China being the death of ambition....?

But TBH I can't really see why I'm talking to you. You haven't posted directly in relation to the thread subject, nor have you really clarified anything I've asked you...

oh yeah the graveyard comment

i meant for teaching, unless it's an international school.

If you're teaching, ya gotta have a plan, a road u intend to follow, be it a solid business plan, writing a book like Buttkins, or upskilling as I mentioned before, perhaps a European language or computer language.

Trying to settle down permanently here is not a good idea IMO

Get in, get what u came for and get out.

As for me, I'm pretty sick of China now, so I'm making arrangements to head back home. I've gotten what I came for, believe it or not, so I'm checking out.

Why am I negative on this forum about China?

It's really just a reality check for any noobs who might wander on to this thread, too many people come here and end up in a comfort zone or self-delude themselves.

Hence the overdramatic graveyard of ambition comment

The clarification helps... although lets be honest here... complete noobs aren't likely to be looking at China as a long term career option. The younger people are looking to spend a year or two before going back home, and the older people are looking for something either to supplement another income, or just to add to their existing skillsets.

Trained & qualified teachers, on the other hand, can and do get decent money working for reputable private or international schools here in China.

You're heading home with some disappointment in hand about your time in China. Fine. But its hardly a reality check... just your reality. Perhaps next time throw in that it has been your personal experience that China is a graveyard for a teaching ambition rather than a definite fact applicable to everyone...

Its really not that difficult to read back over the thread. The question marks at the end of my sentences should be a hint.

far from it. I've more than achieved my objectives.

What was so wrong with Ireland anyway? Irish honeys not giving u the time of day?

I feel u still have a lot to learn of the true nature of the beast over here in China, enjoy the honeymoon while it lasts......

Well, let me see. Less than one post above:

As for me, I'm pretty sick of China now, so I'm making arrangements to head back home. I've gotten what I came for, believe it or not, so I'm checking out.

And considering the tone of your overall posts to this thread its a relatively short step to suggesting a level of disappointment....

See, I don't really get this... What age are you? 12? You have repeatedly made such off-colour remarks when pushed on other areas. Are you really that incapable of having an adult discussion without bringing it down to a mud-fight?

As for whats wrong with Ireland... you would need to be Irish to understand, and it has nothing to do with Irish women.

Ahh well, I'm guessing I'm more open to different environments than you are. You certainly seem to be rather judgemental and that would definitely affect your experience in China.

As for my "honeymoon" it ended quite some time ago... The difference is that I accept that China is not perfect, and that, in fact, there are no perfect countries to live/work in. They all have pluses and negatives. China is no different in that respect.

I'd imagine from every single post you make. Either disappointed or just angry.

It may have nothing to do with Irish women Cormac, but i think it may have a hell of a lot to do with Chinese women, as you are forever mentioning how great they are in your posts; a definite case of the yellow fever.

Are u one of those guys with grand self delusions of setting up a business, while the truth is you're here for the women and easy 10 hour a week work life?

Forever? I mentioned them once in this thread, and I said I wouldn't say anything further. It was you that decided to jump on that single point. [If I'm forever saying how great they are, I'm sure you could post up a fine long list of threads I've posted to saying such)...

The funny thing is that regardless of what I say you will return to what you think... Some crass remark about an interest in chinese girls, and that i'm in China following a pipedream. You have repeatedly returned to these kind of comments.

Before, you weren't making personal attacks. You were just attacking. Now, you are making personal attacks. (Since you refuse to pay attention to anything other than whats in your head)

I'm sure I'll catch the backlash but why are western women so bothered by the fact that many western men come to places like China to seek a wife? My girlfriend back in the state would be so pissed whenever she saw a white man with an asian girl.

Just to stay on topic; I'm here because working like a dog 50 hours per week in the US just isn't my cup of tea anymore. I can finally sit back and enjoy life, read some books, practice my music, and enjoy a different land for a change. As a Uni "Foreign Expert" I work much less but can support myself nearly at the same lifestyle I was accustomed to back home. Money isn't everything.

Honestly, until I came to this board, I never met any who were bothered. Being one of those homo gays myself, I never cared, and most of my 20-something female friends have either spoken about or actually been driven out by the amount of male attention they were given. Maybe it is a generational thing.
