Worse. I was making some remark about famous black singers and mentioned Michael Jackson. My 10 yr old nephew laughingly protested "Michael Jackson's not black!".

That's hilarious! My friend's second grade class knows Ozzy Osbourne only as some funny old, tattooed guy on TV who shuffles around and mumbles a lot. I know what your thinking. Second graders watching The Osbournes...? Confused

I heard a rumour that there are some on this board who remember phonographs... Wink

I was explaining to my class words that are spelled the same but stressed differently such as permit/permit record/record this was suppose to segway nicely into talking about albums, as I would mention record albums ...and then I realized..... they don't know what record albums are.

bu hao yisi .. quite embarrassing.

It is like trying to explain why the the 3 1/2 disk is called a floppy disk

Remember when all Matthew Broderick's gadgets in "War Games" looked soooo high tech. 5 1/4 floppies and the modem that you put the handset on? Bet students would get a good laugh out of that.

Somebody in my high school (late 80's) brought in an article touting the latest and greatest recordable media. "Scratches will be a thing of the past" "crystal clear sound" "unbreakable"

Turned out it was an article heralding the birth of vinyl records (I guess over the old wax ones or something).

Here's to you Cheryl, if you're out there.

My record collation had 33`s,45`s and the best ones the 72`s and of cores there was the National Geographic pull out record of the moon landing still have that, but nothing to play it on.

And the best TV shows The Waltons, Get Smart Hogens Heroes..

Floppy disk? My Pet64 used a cassette tape, spent hours typing the new game in, Asteroids.

That's nothing; when I was at school there were no books, blackboards, chalk, desks or chairs and you had to skin the mammoth first to get the parchment to write on,

That aint nothing, Jones. When i was at school the first ice age hadnt begun and the permian was a gleam in the maker's eye.

Actually, when i starte school we still had the Imperial System in Canada--that will give you an idea of my antiquity.

I read an article in the local rag the other day about DVDs deteriorating because the manufactureres use a variety of different coatings, some better than others, and they dont last too long. che sara sara!!

Shouldn't that be 78's ?

And what IS a DVD ? Something you get from sex ?

Yeah, that's right Scottie. It stands for "Distressed Vascular Disease" and it means that you've been having too much of it. Your vascular tube gets tired and stops functioning. The only cure is abstinence.
