Interesting. I read this as "I am an ESL teacher and my husband is a social worker" but it seems like most people read it the other way around, so I went back to check, and all of the language is gender neutral.
I know, that was really random, but hey, we're all interested in the English language here, right?
Anyway, I have no experience to advise from, but I am seriously considered teaching in another country with my family as well (just me and a five year old) so I wanted to chime in to say "hey, me too!"
I think that being open to either homeschooling your kids or sending them to a local school would increase your options significantly. Also, if your kids gain another language it will probably benefit them in the long run.
Working at an international school would allow you to send your kids to an english speaking school, particularly if you are both certified teachers. (This is my long-term plan.) Alternatively, I wonder if your spouse would be interested in getting certified as a school counselor. You would have to look into what kind of opportunities there are for that in international schools, of course, but I would imagine there would be options in DoDds schools at least.
Good luck! |
