I'm looking into a language program in Mexico and am wondering if anyone has traveled in the two locations of their schools, Puebla and/or Tehuacan. What was your experience? Thanks!

I've been to both as I live in a town just under two hours from Tehuacan (over the boarder in Oaxaca.)

As you probably know Puebla is a major city, I think it's Mexico's 5th largest city. It's colonia and a bit cold for my tastes (in all senses of the word). Tehuacan in comparison is a small town. It does have city things, like a multicinema and chain department stores, but otherwise it's just a "big town" The park is very pretty and it's just on the edge of a Biosphere reserve which is very beautiful. It has some mining and mineral springs in the area (In fact it used to be that agua mineral was know as agua de Tehuacan in restuarants and shops.)

Thanks for your reply! Do you think 4000 pesos per month is a realistic amount of money to live on? I will not have to pay for housing.

4000 is not a lot...it will cover the basics, but you won't be able to save or do a lot of traveling/going out. If housing weren't included, 4000 wouldn't cover you at all.

The first of each month I take $9,000 pesos out of my bank account. $4,000 goes toward rent. Generally I have some pesos left at the end of the month.

I drink a fair amount of cheap wine. Occassionally eat in nice restaurants, occassionally have friends over for dinner and spend a little of events.

I walk pretty much everywhere I go. Lilely have all the clothes I'm ever going to need. Have my teeth cleaned every six months. Get my hair coloured and cut once every six weeks.
