I worked at Harom Hell in Mexico City and I would say that all of the Harom Hells are basically the same in Mexico. Low pay, normally around 75 to 80 pesos an hour and you'll get a lot of hours one semester and then hardly any the next.
You see, EFL salaries are like a roller coaster, they go up and down, up and down. There's no real stability. Harmon Hell will make you go through a two week training program unpaid and then you start working. There is also an English test you will have to take before the training begins.
You will have to follow to book to a T, no creativity allowed. Split shifts will be required unless you only want part time. Split shits are 7 to 11:30am and then back at 4 to 8:30pm if I remember correctly.
And have a good amount of savings because Harmon Hell sometimes doesn't pay you 100% of what they owe you. Just remember that EFL is a highly UNregulated job that has no real standards which are two of the main reasons the salaries are so LOW.
Good luck my friend, you'll need it. |

Alex, you will need to ask them directly what their pay is. They are run individually, and not all created equally. Just like not all teachers are created equally. I've had friends work in Harmon Hall (when it was still open in my city) who were adequately paid, on time, and quite happy with the situation.
Another point...not all teachers view split shifts as a negative. You can get lots of things done in the middle of the day while others are working. It can be an advantage, however, to live close to the school. Good luck with your research and decision. |
