I have a flight booked for Thailand on the 9th November. Reason for visit to close a bank account with the KTB. They would not let me access/close from the UK. On phone they said i would have to visit with passport and card in hand!!!

Retarded or what!! This is before i found about about flooding!!

I have an economy restricted flight so can't change anything. Any advice about where not to visit, especially in BKK? Any thoughts about this situation welcome.

Oh and lastly due to the balance between cost of flights and KTB bank balance I am considering teaching in Thailand for a while. Where would be a good place?

Where not to visit would be where the water is. It is changing by the day so there is no good answer for you.

As to work, ALL schools in BKK have been closed until the middle of November due to flooding in their area or they have been turned into refugee centers.

The job market should start to warm up about the same time that schools start to re-open.

Depending upon how well the dikes hold around Bangkok there is a good chance the worst will be over by the time you arrive. The water hits full force Saturday Oct 29 at 6:00 pm, so you should be able to get an idea of what is going to happen around then. If Bangkok is a total disaster by the time you arrive, book a flight to Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai both of which have been totally unaffected by the deluge and have adequate banks.

That's good advice. Prices are not that expensive. cheaper to go to Chiang Rai from there could travel to Chiang mai later. Thats assuming i can activate my KTB account first when i arrive in Thailand. That has to be sorted out.
