I'm currently on a two year contract, that is up Feb. 2013, and I will not re-sign. I'm trying to get a grasp on what I can do in other countries around the world. Take a look, and tell me what I could do. I'll give the information of what I will have in 2013.

Me:

USA citizen, male, 34.

Four years experience, all in Korea. One year at a language school, one year at a public elementary school, and two at a university.

Bachelor's degree from the US, MATESOL from a Korean university, and an online TEFL.

Not sure if it matters but also 3 years volunteering teaching North Korean refugees.

If you are interested in small town life, you'd have a pretty good shot at one of the SUNEO universities in the state of Oaxaca.

Mother F,

Could you elaborate on these "SUNEO" universities in Oaxaca? I actually just came here to search the Oaxacan university system because I vaguely remember a poster from a long time ago talking about them and for some reason they just came to mind again. I'll keep looking for the info in the meantime. Thanks.

I'm not sure what you want me to elaborate on, but SUNEO stands for Sistema de Universidades Estatales de Oaxaca. http://www.suneo.mx/ (The English version of the site seems to be down, which hopefully is for corrections, the translation was done as a rush job.)
These are public universities, but operate on a model vastly different from the autonomous universities around the country. One of the goals is the decentralization of higher education, so instead of in the state capital the universities are places in small or medium sized towns around the state. Part of that model includes required English classes for all majors taught by native speakers. The model also calls for 100% full-time tenure track faculty which creates a unique demand for qualified native speakers in remote locations. It has it's quirks and is certainly not for everyone.

G--there is, it's 59--exceptions might be made for those who are 60 or older and all ready have an IMSS number.

Phil, not sure what part of that was unclear? no part-time, no adjucts, no associates, no semester-by-semester contracts...
