Hello all, I have a confused GP about the rather lacking Phys Exam. I assume http://www.china-embassy.org/chn/hzqz/zgqz/Q2.pdf is the correct form for use in the UK?
Firstly, I'm hoping that he will forego the ECG and chest X-Ray on the basis of good health - in some cases foreigners have been able to get an affirmative without the procedures being used. Should he write 'No abnormalities' in those sections?
Secondly, I need clarification on a few points of the form:
What is required for 'development', 'nourishment' and all of the body parts and organs at the bottom of the first page? Are they to be confirmed as 'satifactory', 'fine' or 'no problems'?
Haven't been able to find an appendix or info detailing all this info, if there is feel free to direct me.
Thanks, and have a good day! |

I wouldn't worry about it in the UK. Majority of cases they will make you take another health check when you come to China anyway so don't waste your money.
If you really want to do it then just an "ok" should suffice in those boxes in question. I wouldn't worry about the exam too much, my experience in the past and my FAO's have even told me that they are just looking to see if you have HIV. We've had one teacher in the past who even had major heart complications which he announced when arriving and they still passed him.........and then he died here from his heart problems.....so yeah. |

that's one of those organs.....ask your doctor.
you'll likely need to have the health check done in the uk. some/many
of the foreign affairs offices are requiring a health check prior to
issuing the working permit. and you'll need it to apply for
the visa.
for most of the boxes, your doctor can simply write "normal."
for the x-rays, perhaps "no indications" or some such nonsense.
the folks back in china (and at the embassy when you apply)
don't actually read the reports (other than the STD box).
they only want a completed form with some sort of official
stamp.
once you arrive, you will (most likely) be required to retake the
physical. employer should pay. if not, it's only about 300 rmb.
if you had x-rays taken at home, bring 'em along and you should
be able to avoid a second dose of radiation. |

I recently had the health check done (in the UK), it wasn't easy but I found an excellent professor who was very understanding. I arrived in China fully expecting to have another one, however, my FAO said something along the lines of, 'This looks good enough' when I handed him the completed form and original X-ray, ECG and blood test results.
So if you have to pay a large amount, I would see if your employer is flexbile and only have the check done in China. I was offered this option with one university, but if I faild it in China I would have to pay for my own flights home. I didn't accept that position though so I couldn't say if it would have worked out well. I had no reason to think I would fail the health check but it lingered in the back of my mind. |

Not to be that guy or anything but why not just look up online healthy numbers for all the bloodwork and fill the form out yourself? They aren't going to call the doctor and check it, you'll have to get another check in China anyways, and you'll save a lot of money. |

I have hired many teachers over the past 3 years. In every case the teachers were required to get their medical done here(Chongqing). One person did come with a medical check from the US but was rejected because it did not have the proper Chinese style stamp on it. Check with the school. They should know the local rules. |
