|

I am wondering if anyone out here has done their PhD in language (e.g., applied linguistics/language policy) in Istanbul. Specifically, I'm interested in knowing which universities have good reputations for PhDs... I have heard that Bogazici was good, but just wanted to check with you all.
Also, a foreigner can enroll, yes?
Have a good weekend,

Hi
speak to Tom Godfrey at ITI -I think they have connections with Aston Uni on their MA programme and this might be extendable to Phd |

They most certainly do have connections with Aston University
In fact, Jane Willis will be visiting ITI on Monday 28th November. |

I'm not sure if the OP is looking for distance programmes.
Aston University offers the MSc in TESOL/TESP/TEYL/ and Educational Management in TESOL. The fees for the full-time study are 3,630 GB pounds for UK/EU students and 10,700 GB pounds for international students.
I can only presume the distance fees are similar but spread across part-time 3 years. Maybe somebody knows more up-to-date information. |

When I did my MSc TESOL with them, it cost 5,000 ... Way back then, they were willing to include Turkey under the European umbrella ... but it was something that was always up for review.
I finished 10 years ago mind you .. since when the course has been shortened by 1.5 modules, so I have no idea about the correct price today.
You paid each time you started a new module.
You can do a PhD with them too ... and I'm sure Jane Willis would be happy to talk with the OP about it .. that's partly / primarily why she's visiting .. |

Thanks for your replies. You've all been helpful.
I was initially interested in programs in Istanbul -- hadn't even thought about distance -- but I am pretty much open to anything at this point. At this point I am just collecting information.
I will contact Tom Godfrey and go check out the seminar with Jane Willis as well.
And wow, the fee is expensive. Do you know if you can get funding? I guess I should contact schools and find out myself.
Thanks |
