I have received a very casual offer from a manager with a company called Center for Raising the Intellectual Standard of People (CRISOP). Looking at their website it seems their primary function is placing Vietnamese students in overseas colleges. They also seem to have TESL classes as part of preparing these students.

Their web address is http://crisop.edu.vn

Is there anyone here who has first hand experience (good or bad) with this company? I found nothing by searching the forum.

Thank you

New name for KAPLAN?
I can only talk about their presence in the Mekong Delta-not sure of Hanoi.
There they have a poor reputation amongst teachers. Flighty manangement which lurches from crisis to crisis on a daily basis.
I havent been there (in the mekong) for a few years so it may have gotten better. I recall they also tried to relaunch with a name like "New Star" or something similar, but it too was quite lack lustre.
There are more concrete outfits in Hanoi. Be prepared to jump ship if they look like going pear shaped. Keep options open (as any ESL teacher in Vietnam should).

The name itself is a pretty big red flag.

Center for Raising the Intellectual Standard of People
Thats a really funny name, isn't it? I mean, why have "people" in it?
I don't think a centre to raise the Intellectual Standard of Armadillos is going to get much more serious attention.

lets open a school and call it:"Centre for Nice people to Help the Poor and Convert the Sinners". Any takers?

Apparently the answer to my original post is that nobody really has an answer.

I ran their name through Google and couldn't find any dirt.

Here's an article about their 10th anniversary celebration that took place in 2009:

Here's another about a scholarship program they're involved with:

Go talk with them and tell us what you think afterwards.
