Ostrava was a coal mining capital during communism.
It isn' pretty.
It isn't clean.
The people are probably friendly, but that region has high unemployment and some of the people who used to live the good life under communism are a bit bitter.
There are better places. |

Like Kvido said,it was(lots of unemployment now) a major coal and industrial center.Polluted...not pretty...some bitterness,as he says. The same goes for other cities in the area, like Karvina.Over the border in Poland, near Katowice, thing are very similar.Try somewhere else...like Plzen,Brno, etc.Ostrava definitely is not pretty. |

How long does it take to drive from Prague to Ostrava?
What's is the price for an average, half decent car? |

A little late...
I am not sure how long it takes to drive, but a train ride takes about 5 hours or more (depending on what type of train you take). |
