Dear sparks,

Shot expert with both M-14 and .45 caliber pistol at the rifle range at Parris Island.

I have had a Colt Python (357 Magnum) for decades; I keep it in a lock box.

No automatics for me - if you need more than six shots, you might as well save the last one for yourself.

No jamming, stovepipes, or misfires - more powerful, more dependable.

Regards,
John

Dear El Chupacabra,

Yup, my AK47 is going to make sure the federal/state (elected) government doesn't impose its tyranny on me.

Boy, are the Army/Navy/Air Force/Marines/Coast Guard/National Guard going to regret knocking on MY door.

Regards.
John

Without taking sides on this debate, it does strike me that without their trusty hunting muskets close at hand, the American revolutionary fighters of 1776 probably would never have waged or won their War of Independence. In most recent times, it was not until the revolutionary fighters of Libya got their hands on firearms that they were able to win their independence and overthrow a brutal dictator.

In both cases, the deposed parties, backed by professional armies, no doubt considered the freedom fighters more than a ragtag group surely unable to be victorious in their cause.

History proved them wrong.

Dear btsmrtfan,

Glad you eschewed taking sides. Fortunately, all the British had were trusty muskets: and such, too. I wouldn't match an AK-47 against a tank.

But don't worry - we're safe from tyranny. There are almost 90 guns for every 100 people in the USA (and that's not counting the unregistered ones.)

And we'll be mighty glad we have them when the aliens attack, too.

Regards,
John

All this talk really makes me miss my own household appliances, locked up in storage in the Silver State.

Ah, I too had a Colt Python for a few years way back (and training and a license to carry).

Quite happy those days are behind me, but the Colt was an admirable little machine.
