Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has any recent information about the HK Polytechnic University and the ELC center (work condition(s), salary, etc). Ive searched everywhere but cant find any. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

This is HK, so those who work in economics and finance get paid more. If you do something pointless, say Philosophy or Religious Studies, then you can start making out your position on the pavement next to the other beggars. Laughing Yeah, I'm exaggerating, but there's truth to salary discrepancies according to discipline. I have a friend there with tenure, an associate professor. He gets HK$120 000 a month. He teaches two hours a week, with the rest mostly free time. This is not a joke.

... and the TEFLers (Language Instructors) will be on around HK$30-35K a month or, if on p/t contracts, HK$500 or so an hour.

Anyone know what the conditions are like for fulltime language instructors at this school? Teaching hours? Supervision? Is there a high rate of turnover? If so, why?
