Your contract is ending/you want to quit/your savings are running out or any other situation BUT you have no idea what to do next.

Do you:

a) Consult an astrologer, tarot cards, palm reader etc?
b) Leave it to the fates-something will turn up just when you need it.
c) Research like crazy.
d) Ask others for input.
e) Network until someone offers you something.
f) Live off coconuts on a cheap island.
g) Post your resume and take the first offer.
h) Hyperventilate and panic.
i) Other-please elaborate.

I'm going to be a fatalist and take "b".

I just go somewhere I like, look in the yellow pages for any likely places to work, and then go shake a few trees and see what falls out. It's worked so far. Admittedly, it ain't the most secure way of getting a job.

Move on to another country. After doing plenty of research. Which would include reading books, asking Qs here at Dave's, etc. After I was all researched out, I would apply to jobs online. As a last resort, if the online jobs looked too sketchy, I'd hop on a plane and wing it.

Hi Nomadder! Getting a little antsy? I vote for c, d, or e, although I believe b always plays a role in major life decisions. Stay away from options f, g, and h, though.

Your answer amused me. I was tempted to put a disclaimer on my earlier post. Something like: "Yeah, yeah, before y'all accuse me of being a dumb-ass, internationally ignorant American, I KNOW that Spanish is not the official language of Cambodia..."

The scary thing is that I bet there are people who took my question seriously...

@Denise--i knew you knew that spanish was not the language of Cambodia, but I had to answer straight since this is an irony - free communication medium, mostly. And anyone who takes the name of a greek goddess is top of the brainy tops in my book! Smarmily yrs khmer


@SJones---the foundations of what, pray tell? Not another language school?
Is it near Kandy? Did you know AC Clarke? Is the land affordable? Sounds a wonderful country to live, save for the nastiness up north and sometimes in the capital.
