If you work for International House in Europe, could you confirm something I've just found out, that you are actually hired under an American contract? I think this may only apply to Americans working in the EU.
Does your U.S. contract stipulate your working conditions under Polish or American law? If American, what state?
Do you have residency?
Do you have a work permit?
Do you literally get paid in cash for your gross wage, with no health care/tax deductions?
Is your income declared in the US? |

I think you may be speaking of a possible situation specific to Poland. None of the IH locations I am aware of in Western Europe hire Americans or other non-EU member citizens. Far too likely to get caught in Italy or Spain or France or wherever.
If they are actually doing this in Poland, it's certainly unethical. |

Obviously I don't know that 100% for sure, but the laws are quite stringent and are fairly actively enforced in Western European countries. I have a couple of contacts in IH schools in this region and I know they don't hire non EU member citizens, unless they happen to be legal residents through marraige. |
