I'm just thinking out loud here...

I'm currently in China for tefl and I do love learning Mandarin. My dream would be to take a one year full time (20 hr) a week course at a uni but, as ever, cash is the problem. My current uni offers this but my teaching timetable includes around 3 mornings a week so I can't attend.

I've found one possible scheme which offers free tuition at a uni here in China in exchange for 12 hours a week teaching. I've emailed them to find out the exact details. I'm hoping basic accomodation and maybe a small stipend.

Does anyone know if any other schemes/institutions offering something similar to this in any other country? Feeling buoyed by my Mandarin experiences, I'd consider anywhere to add a string to my bow although French or German would be my top picks after Mandarin.

Thanks

PS should add that I know about the Chinese Government Scholarships for study but I'm too old for an EU candidate. Crying or Very sad

Not yet. I'm waiting to hear back from the uni I mentioned in the first instance.

The one downside to China is the distance from home (the UK) so I was looking for information on everywhere else at this point just to scope out the options (if there are any).

Should also add that I know there are tons of exchange programmes I could pay to take part in, but I was looking to come away at least evens or ideally with a little money to make use of my experience.
