Dear Imdramayu,

Is KAUST

http://www.kaust.edu.sa/

different from KAU?

http://www.kau.edu.sa/home_ENGLISH.aspx

Well, let me put it this way - Is Paris, France different from Paris, Texas?

Regards,
John

Getting a job with KAU is pretty easy if you have semi-decent credentials and the pay will be average for unis in KSA.

Getting a job with KAUST is pretty much impossible, but last report here the pay was 6 figures. (it has likely gone down, but that is probably moot) And you better have a CV that will impress...

The website of KAUST doesn't mention any EFL jobs. What is KSA-average salary? SR15,000?

As to KAUST, they don't feel that they need an EFL department and the plan - last I heard - was for only 3 or 4 teachers. At that time, there were two plus the department manager - and one was terminated and the other resigned because they wouldn't provide a family visa. They were employees of a US company, not the university directly. The university doesn't intend to hire any.

Just take a look at the ads. They'll give you a good idea. Based on what I've seen lately I'd say it's somewhat less than SR15000, i.e. if you're referring to the net salary. Some places inflate the "salary" by including housing, transportation, etc.

They are tricky little varmints!! Laughing

15K is about average.

Some of these universities are advertising in November for posts starting in September 2011. Professional to a fault.

We need 25 male and 50 female teachers ASAP!!! Wink

Is experience much more than education?
I dont have a CELTA but if I did get one, would it push up the salary?
