Looking for Short-Term Work with a Spousal Visa

I'm looking to get some part-time/short-term work for a month or so. I have a spousal visa so I'd preferably like to do something that doesn't involve English teaching (my regular job.) I registered with a modeling/acting agency during last summer but never heard anything back from them. I'll probably register with more as I realize just registering with one agency is essentially putting all my eggs in one basket. I'd like to do some acting work, more than likely as an extra or small role. Any other kind of recommendations from people who have visas that allow them to do any job?

I wouldn't mind doing short-term English teaching work if that's all that is available, but doing other jobs is my main focus. Freelance editing, tutoring, acting, bar tending, odd jobs, etc.

My Japanese level is pretty basic so that rules out a lot of jobs for me I realize. I can hold a conversation about simple subjects, but outside of that I'm pretty lost. Pretty much all of my experience is in teaching although I did some editing work in the past. So jobs with pretty low requirements are cool.

Think of it as a "holiday job." Just the kind of job to make some extra money and help buy some Christmas presents.

Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated!

Look in The Japan Times (paper edition and online edition have different ads) and in Metropolis online and Kansai Time Out (or is it the Kansai Flea Market?).

Go to any information center in your area and see if they post anything.
