I have been teaching at Universities in China for 3 years, some subject teaching(Economics, Finance), but mostly business English. I have a CELTA and an MBA. Is there a niche in the ME for me? All I ever seem to see requested is an MA Tesol. |

With a CELTA and an MBA you ought to be able to find something in a university. |

I suspect that your chances at tertiary level are better in business than in EFL. In EFL, outside of Saudi, your lack of a related MA in Ap Ling/EFL will block you off from the top jobs and you might not have enough experience in content courses for the business department. There is really little market for "business English" courses... as there is in Asia.
The smaller private colleges might be interested in your ability to teach in both areas. There are a few in the Muscat area of Oman that are possibilities, but the pay is lower than the rumors you may have heard of Gulf salaries.
With a big caveat to read the posts here first is that one of the high pay places in the UAE that might be interested is The Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT). I taught both EFL and business courses there.

I've got an MBA and an MA/TEFL, but freakin' HCT wouldn't let me out of the Foundations program (they were/are so hard up for Foundations teachers). With my background in aviation I could have taught those courses as well, but would they listen? NOOOOOOOOOOOO! Just gave me false promises. Don't believe a thing they promise you.
Rotten nuts to 'em!

Funny that! I had the very same thing happen to me. When the Aviation guys at AD Men's found out that I had a background in Aviation English, they had Neil M. (who subsequently got sent to head up the Engineering Dept. at Fuj.), their Dean, to personally request that I be assigned to their department.
What happened? I got transferred to the whack jobs over at AD Women's to teach the lil' princesses in Foundations. |

It likely depends on need. My original education degree was for business and English, MA in TEFL. They were thrilled to be able to use my extensive business experience. I taught 50% Foundations writing and 50% business courses for my 4 years there. Teaching business courses was the only thing that kept me there so long.
Somewhere along the line they lost their "common sense."
