It's legitimate.
We have had about 2 weeks off in between the dates you said.
It shouldn't take much longer but probably not this week as there is only 1 more working day left.
If you want the job wait, you will be all set by the start of term 2 (beg january).
That is when they are recruiting for. maybe earlier. |

Applying for a teaching job in the Gulf is an exercise in patience. How long it will take for approval is like asking 'how long is a piece of string.'

I would say that you should set your mind on arriving in Oman say around mid January. Still a few steps to go after ther approval letter. The approval letter could take anything between 2 to 3 weeks. Then there is the issue of the Clearance from the same Ministry of Manpower (another department), then the Employment Visa from the ROP. Anyone feeling dizzy already?
Then of course, your flight booking which of course will depend on if you are ready to go, resigned from your job, suitcases packed. |

Really? You're going to lecture on English at university? Is this common in the Gulf? |

No, there are no lecturers in the Gulf. It's just a title to make you feel better about selling out.
You'll typically be trying to maintain classroom discipline and interest in trying to make English sink in.
However, in truth, I hear Omani students are better behaved.
But being a Lecturer, naw, it's just a title to sooth your ego.
It's be different if you taught content at a Gulf psudo-university! |
