LOL. Thanks.
Seems like Qatar would be expensive and I would not get to meet many Qataris.
Are you in Oman now ? |

Dear SaharaDesert,
Nope, but I've been to Qatar, the UAE, and Oman. And that's my opinion. I spent about 20 years in the Middle East, but most of that was in $audi - another place where money i$ the prime incentive.
Regards,
John |

You're right, but it likely depends on where your job in Oman is located. There are some jobs in rather small places with a limited number of expats to hang out with... and probably even fewer that you want to...
That said, Qatar is pretty small. Like Kuwait, it is mostly one largish city in the middle of not much else. Oman is one of the biggest countries in the Gulf with the most varied landscape. I really enjoyed Oman... but I was in Muscat. I don't think that I would have been able to spend too long in Doha. (but... as always, it depends mostly on the job offers)

If you're into (Western) music, theatre and kulcher, Qatar's way the best place to be in the Middle East. If you want to observe Arab traditions, get some fresh air occasionally, and go walking at weekends, Oman is what you want. |

Qatar for culture vultures and sports buffs. Oman for nature lovers and people who like to mingle with the locals. Omanis are great people! |
