This is your exact quote.

"Actually there are very few employers who pay more..."

That does not sound very "middle of the road" to me.

My point was very simple. You are wrong.
Almost EVERYONE is paying more.

If you have masters degree and 3 years of experience you would make more at just about any other institution of higher learning in the UAE, Oman or Saudi.

Qatar is a wealthy nation. I suspect that they have risen to the salary bar but before I spend the hours filling out their online application I would like to know for sure.

If anyone out there knows the current QU starting pay, please let us know.

There are a few of us who would love to hear about it.

Thanks

GP

Dear greenpeace,

"If you have masters degree and 3 years of experience you would make more at just about any other institution of higher learning in the UAE, Oman or Saudi."

I can't speak about Oman or the UAE, but I know for a dead certain fact that you're wrong about Saudi.

Regards,
John

And definitely Oman...

(and the number I posted for QU was from the current academic year... no report yet on if it will be raised next year or not)

An imaginary pay rise of 60% to zilch at QU. Qatar is very very expensive!! Three days here and I've already gone over my budget. Luckily I am staying with an old pal, otherwise I couldn't afford to visit.

This is a discussion board for EFL teachers. We know nothing about other fields outside of education... neither salaries nor requirements of employers. I suspect that you would need to go to some recruiter in the Philippines to learn about this unless you have some family that are already in one of the Gulf countries.

A typical sales clerk would make about 1000 riyals a month.

About US$275...

Hey FunGus... are they all hired by recruiters? That seemed to be all that I encountered with those that I talked to over the years.

The minimum survival salary would be 10,000 + housing + water + electricity + transport. Other than this, you would be in dire straits and need to do private tutoring for at least 200 QR per hour.

if you're married - forget it!
