I'm a University student and will be graduating soon. I want to teach abroad and would like to know if there are any on-site TEFL certification courses in TX (preferably in or around the Dallas area)? I'm really new and ignorant to all of this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and my degree is in Speech, Language, and Hearing sciences. Not in education or English FYI.

Thanks in advance,

JB

If you're considering teaching abroad, you may want to think about taking a course in the country where you want to work. There are a few advantages.

Training centres can provide a nice bridge into a country/culture. They usually help out with logistics like airport pickup and housing during the course. The practice teaching students you work with will really represent those you'll have when you start. Fellow trainees can form your first social network in the country, and a training centre can offer invaluable info regarding reputable local employers.

This is most applicable in countries where jobs aren't found from abroad - in the case that you're American, that would apply to Latin America and Central/Eastern Europe. I think things are a bit different in Asia.

And obviously if you plan to teach in the US, Texas is a fine place to take a course!!
